Our Community Involvement
In addition to caring for the pets and people who walk through our doors, we also extend our resources to strengthen the greater Ukiah community. Through sponsorships, spay/neuter clinics, fundraisers, and more, we hope to make this community a better place for you and your furry friends!
Ways We Support Our Community
In our area, we recognize the fact that many people and their pets don’t have easy access to a local veterinary hospital. So, we come to you. Dr. Burns and Dr. Powers take our mobile veterinary unit 2-3 times per month to perform wellness services including vaccinations, heartworm prevention, ear infections, physicals, and more. Our mobile locations include:
- Long Valley Feed and Supply at 400 Branscomb Road in Laytonville
- Anderson Valley Farm Supply at 7050 Hwy 128 in Philo
Our mobile units take walk-ins only. If you would like to request a house call, please contact our hospital at (707) 462-8833 to schedule an appointment.
Every year, we support the Boys & Girls Club by participating in their Chili Cookoff! Not to brag, but we won two titles in 2018, and look forward to more Chili Cookoff honors. Learn more about the Boys and Girls Club here.
Plowshares is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing nutritious, hot meals to those in need in Mendocino county. We regularly support their annual Empty Bowls fundraiser which collects donations to fuel their efforts to ensure everyone in Ukiah and beyond is fed through their community dining room and their meals-on-wheels program. Learn more here.
The Early Iron Car Club is an organization formed by car enthusiasts who enjoy sharing their love of automobiles with the community! Proceeds from their events are used to award scholarships to students continuing their education in an automotive-related field. They also support the local high school and junior college automotive shops! Check out their Facebook page for more information.
Event of the Heart is an annual fundraiser put on by the Mendocino County AIDS/Viral Hepatitis Network. We help raise money for this event and support it in other ways as well. Get more information from their website!

Our veterinarians are passionate about fighting pet overpopulation which results in so many lost lives every year. They often perform spay and neuter surgeries for our local animal shelters, often on a volunteer basis!
In addition to helping our local community with spay and neuter surgeries, some of our team also visit Mexico about four times a year to participate in spay and neuter clinics. We also have team members who travel to Maui to work with the Maui Humane Society two-four times a year performing more spays and neuters.
One of the most important things to us is supporting our local community of Ukiah. Whenever possible, we sponsor a number of events and community enrichment such as the local BMX track, baseball fields, the local park pool, local school events, and of course our local humane society!
The Mendo Human Race is part of a nationwide community 5k run where teams of runners and walkers raise funds for local nonprofits. Each year, we form a team who raises funds for the local Spay/Neuter Assistance Program! Find out more from their Facebook page.
At Mendocino Animal Hospital, we recognize the immense importance of our local police canine units Likewise, our local animal rescues have many pets to care for and without proper medical care upfront, many will never find their forever homes. We offer these groups a 15% discount for veterinary medical services.
