When Do We Recommend an Abdominal Ultrasound for Dogs and Cats?

If we need to take a closer look at your pet’s abdominal organs for insight into their condition, we can recommend an ultrasound procedure. An abdominal ultrasound aids in the evaluation of the liver, kidneys, spleen, and intestines. It can help us identify and/or confirm abdominal masses, and the presence of fluid in the abdomen. These types of issues can occasionally be detected during a physical exam or X-ray, but an ultrasound can help us make a more definitive diagnosis.

The Importance of Cardiac Ultrasounds for Dogs and Cats

A cardiac ultrasound might be needed for your pet so we can check for an enlarged heart (cardiomegaly), evaluate cardiac function and the chambers of the heart, and check for cardiac murmurs. This tool can help us detect signs of heart failure and prescribe potentially life-saving treatment to manage your pet’s condition.
